INEOS Phenol reported that they initialed joint venture agreements with Sinopec Yangzi Petrochemical Company (Sinopec YPC) for the design, build and future operation of a 1.2million tonne cumene, phenol and acetone complex at the Nanjing Chemical Industrial Park in Jiangsu Province, China The annual capacity of the new facility will be at least 400,000 tonnes of phenol and 250,000 tonnes of acetone making it the largest plant of its kind in China.


After the plants in USA, Germany and Belgium were put on-stream, the plant in Jiangsu, China, will already be the fourth phenol plant of INEOS to operate the IF96 CHP cleavage technology specifically developed by ILLA International for INEOS process. The IF96 technology makes the most significant contribution to the efficiency of INEOS proprietary phenol technology.
